Both teams were locked up at a 2-2 tie in games won and Union jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fifth and final game on Libby Heaton's long distance gem. A net return by Duchesne had Union up 3-1 and a shot off a Duchesne player had Union in the lead at 4-2.

However, Duchesne refused to quit with a net serve by Union plus another misplay tying the game at 4-4. A long return by Union and a shot in the net had Duchesne ahead 7-5. A net return by Union gave Duchesne a 16-14 win and the match in five games that lasted over two hours.

Naturally Duchesne coach JoLynn Duncan was happy for the win over the 3A Union Cougars.

Union leaped out to a 3-0 lead in the first game and had a shot bounce off an Eagle hand and went up 5-2 on a long Duchesne return. However, DHS tied up the game and led 10-5 on a long Union return. A wide shot by Union gave DHS an 11-5 edge.

Heaton and Murdock turned in good shots for a 20-13 advantage. A Union serve hit the top of the net and fell over for an ace and a 25-20 second game win.

Union led 2-1 in the third game, but DHS reeled off three straight counters with the final one on a good shot by Ashley Herrera for a 5-2 edge. Cheyene Romero served off a Union Cougar and gave DHS a 7-3 lead.

The Cats closed the gap to one at 21-20 and Micheala Wilkerson zapped in a good shot for a 24-20 Duchesne lead. A long return by Union gave Duchesne a 25-22 third game triumph.

Murdock found the range for a 1-0 lead and Herrera fired in a good shot to bring DHS with in one at 3-2. However, Union took charge for a 6-2 lead and super shots by Dye killed Duchesne's hope with the Cats up 17-5.

Union's Murdock was twice on target for a 20-9 edge and a net return by Duchesne had the Cats in command at 22-14. Labrum drilled a shot for the game winner in the fourth game 25-14.
