TIGERS DOMINATE OVERTIME
Tabiona Tiger team upsets unbeaten Rich Rebel crew
The Tabiona Tigers defeated Rich 75-69 in overtime in Tabiona for the Rebels first Region 16 setback on Saturday night behind a combined 61 points by Dane Rhoades, Robbie Giles and Gerald Van Tassell. Rhoades pumped in 24, Giles 23 and Van Tassell 14. Rich led 10-9 after one quarter and pumped in 20 more in the second for a 30-27 halftime edge. Tabiona outscored Rich 12-8 to take a 39-38 lead into the final quarter. However, Rich outscored THS 25-24 to force overtime due to a 63-63 tie. Tabiona won the game by pumping in 12 points as compared to six by the Rebels. Also scoring points for Tabiona were: Myles Potter, 7; James Hamilton, 5; Cameron Van Tassell, 2. THS hit 24 field goals and tossed in 24 out of 38 free throws. Potter, Rhoades and Van Tassell zipped in one three each. Caden Anderson led Rich with 27 and hit six threes. Kayden Calder connected for 21 points. Rich zipped in 27 field goal, but hit only 7 out of 13 foul pitches. Rich beat Tabiona's girls 54-29 and led 34-12 at the half. Shantaya Strebel fired in 11 points and Whitney Lefler added eight. Madi Westerman tossed in six. Shantae Brown and Courtney Lamborn led Rich with 16.
