Tabiona Tiger team pounds SLL baseball crew 39 to 2

Tabiona's baseball team bruised and battered Salt Lake Lutheran for a 39-2 win at Tabiona on Aug. 19. Wade Brown was the winning pitcher and Dane Rhoades belted out two homers for the Tigers.

Salt Lake Lutheran led 1-0 after half an inning, but the Tigers erupted for 17 runs in their half of the first to lead 17-1. Tabiona added 13 more counters in the second for a 30-1 lopsided edge. SLL netted its last run with one run in the top of the third. The Tigers ripped SLL for nine runs in the bottom of the third to win by 37 counters.

Tabiona out hit SLL 29-1 and made zero errors while SLL had four misplays on the diamond. The Tigers' Myles Potter had two triples and one single. Stetson Hogan ripped out two triples. Cameron Van Tassell pounded out two triples. Brown had a triple and two doubles. Hogan, Van Tassell and Potter combined to go 15-for-15 in the game.

The win over SLL is Tabiona's fourth win of the season. The Tigers have also defeated Green River 5-3, Tintic 6-0 (a no-hitter) and Bryce Valley 8-2.

Tabiona will host Mount Vernon on Thursday, Sept. 2 and will face St. Joseph on the road on Sept. 3. The Tigers will play Intermountain Christian in Tabiona on Sept. 8.

Remaining games are: Tabiona at West Ridge, Sept. 10; St. Joseph at THS, Sept. 16; Tabiona at Christian Heritage, Sept. 17; West Ridge at THS, Sept. 23; THS at Mount Vernon, Sept. 25; Christian Heritage at THS, Sept. 30 and THS at Salt Lake Lutheran, Oct. 1.
