The Memphis Grizzlies have opened the 2026-27 NBA season 5-0, their best start since 2017-18, tying the Houston Rockets for the league's top record through the first week of play.

Rookie forward Cameron Boozer has been a central piece of the surge, logging a triple-double in one of the five wins, while veteran guard Ty Jerome has provided steady scoring and playmaking alongside him. The pairing has given Memphis a faster, more balanced attack than the team showed in recent injury-plagued seasons, and the early returns have reset expectations for a roster that missed the playoffs a year ago.

Five games is a small sample, and the schedule will toughen considerably in the coming weeks, but a perfect start carries real weight in a Western Conference that many preseason forecasts expected Memphis to miss entirely. The team's next test comes against conference opponents who, unlike several of its first five opponents, are themselves unbeaten or near it.
