Jio Platforms, the telecom and digital services arm of Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries, opened its public bidding window on Wednesday in what is being described as India's largest initial public offering to date, targeting roughly ₹30,000 crore (about $3.6 billion) at the top of its price band.

The offering is priced between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per share, structured as a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares at a face value of ₹10 each. Reliance has said the proceeds will go mainly toward reducing debt at the unit, which has grown into one of India's dominant telecom and digital-services platforms since its 2016 launch upended the country's wireless market with rock-bottom data pricing.

A roadshow led by the next generation

Anchor investor bidding took place on 19 October, ahead of Wednesday's opening of the broader public window, which runs through 23 October; listing is expected around 28 October. Eligible Reliance shareholders and employees have been given reserved quotas of up to ₹2,500 crore and ₹500 crore respectively, a structure designed to reward long-term holders of the parent company's stock.

Much of the investor-facing roadshow has been led not by Mukesh Ambani himself but by his children: Akash Ambani, who has run Jio's day-to-day operations in recent years, and Isha Ambani, who has taken a prominent public role pitching the offering to institutional investors — a visible signal of the generational transition underway at the conglomerate.

Jio Platforms has filed its RHP papers as it moves toward a public listing.

What happens next

If the offering prices at the top of its range, Jio Platforms would become one of the largest listings in Indian stock market history, giving public investors direct exposure to a business that has reshaped India's telecom and digital economy over the past decade. Analysts will be watching the 28 October debut closely for signs of how much appetite remains among both domestic and foreign investors for India's largest consumer-tech bets.
