Rockstar Games has released a new launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, offering fresh details on what analysts expect to be the biggest video game release of the year. The trailer, which the BBC reports again confirmed a November 19 release date, gave fans a look at missions for protagonists Jason and Lucia and featured a new original score from the French electronic duo Justice.

The trailer suggests no further delays to the game, which has already been pushed back twice, from an original autumn 2025 target and then from a planned May 2026 launch. Rockstar said at the time of the second delay that it needed extra months to finish the game with the "level of polish fans had come to expect and deserve." Players who pre-order will be able to begin pre-loading the game on November 12, a week ahead of release.

Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with no PC release date yet announced and no confirmation of whether it will come to Nintendo Switch 2. The standard edition will cost $79.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK, while an Ultimate Edition with additional vehicles and weapons will cost $99.99 and £89.99, respectively. Other outlets covering the launch have confirmed the same pricing and preload schedule. Physical copies will ship with a download code rather than a disc.

Analysts believe the game could become the most expensive ever made, with development cost estimates exceeding $1 billion, underscoring the financial stakes for Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company. The pressure to deliver follows the enormous success of Grand Theft Auto V, which has sold nearly 230 million copies since its 2013 release and became one of the best-selling games of all time. Rockstar first confirmed it was working on a sixth installment in February 2022, and footage leaked the following year after the company was targeted by teenage hackers.

Whether Grand Theft Auto VI will include an updated online multiplayer mode at launch remains unclear; the game's PlayStation Store listing currently describes it as "a single-player experience," though Rockstar has not ruled out adding one later given the enduring success of GTA Online. With pre-loading set to begin in less than a month, Rockstar's November 19 date now stands as the clearest signal yet that the long-delayed sequel is close to reaching players.
